Capital of the Province which is known as the "Provincia Granda" due to its extension.
The city takes its name from the shape of the plateau on which it stands, it is a living room city, in a checkerboard pattern, characterized by arcades (second only to Bologna in length).
Do not miss the large Piazza Galimberti, and the very central Via Roma, the pedestrian area of the historic centre. Cuneo is well known for the large market on Tuesdays, for the Cuneesi al Rhum (chocolate sweets filled with rum cream) and for the many restaurants in the old town where you can taste the excellent Piedmontese cuisine. A large park recently inaugurated (Parco Parri), the Viale degli Angeli, 3 km long, and the river park that runs along the two rivers that border the city, make Cuneo the “Green Capital of Piedmont”
